About the photographer.

I took my first pink plastic Kodak 110 camera (a thin rectangular brick) to summer camp in the mid ‘90s. The only photo I remember is the one of my bunkmate taking a photo of me on her similar purple and teal rectangular brick. I wonder if she’s still making photos, too.

Anyway, around college sometime, my dad gave me the Canon AE-1 he bought in South Korea the year it was released. It since got snatched in a home burglary at my last place in San Francisco. It’s too bad, because there was an award-winning black and white photo of a seagull and the GGB on that roll of film. It’s also very bad and sad because I loved that thing so much.

Now I shoot coastal wildlife on my Sony Alpha (and carry a buttload of insurance). I love photography, I love animals, I love birds (which are different from animals), and I love that you took time to read this. (Thanks, by the way.) I live in Pacific Grove, California now (no more home burglaries [knock on wood]) with my partner (also a photographer and bird nerd) and his kid (a five year old who has informed us that she is “not interested in birds”).

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy the photos.
